- Monitor uses the LockDown Browser functionality, so you’ll want to enable it in your course by going to Settings, then the Navigation tab, and find LockDown Browser in the list of tools. Click the three dots and select Enable, then scroll down and Save. You should now have LockDown Browser in your left menu. Students will not see this menu item.

To activate this in your UCCS Canvas course:
- Click Settings in the course menu.
- Click the Navigation tab.
- Locate LockDown Browser in the lower list and use the 3 vertical dots on the right to Enable.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
- LockDown Browser is now in your course menu, only visible to instructors and TAs. You can enable it for any quiz or exam in your course.
- Students can download it for a personal Mac, PC, or Chromebook by using the link under Help in Canvas.
- LockDown Browser is installed on all open computer lab computers at UCCS.

External tools are an easy way to add new features to Canvas. They can be added to individual courses, or to all courses in an account. Once configured, you can link them through course modules and create assignments. Learn more about our external tool request process.

Canvas supports the integration of external tools using the IMS LTI standard. When an external tool is launched, some student information may be passed along to the external tool provider. The standard dictates the types of information passed and how they are passed. When integrating Canvas with external tools, all efforts are made to minimize the student data transferred and to vet the security practices of the tool vendor.
However, with the exception of official Emory IT tools such as Office 365, most 3rd party tools are not governed by Emory University’s Information Technology office. Although it is Emory’s policy to protect student privacy, please understand that Emory does not guarantee the privacy of information shared on external 3rd party applications. Information you provide may be visible to others using this application. You are not required to provide personal information. DesignPLUS | DesignPLUS is a series of tools for instructors and course builders to create more robust and flexible Canvas pages. The tools are activated through a key combination while using the Rich Content Editor, and can be customized per user preference. They are designed for intermediate-to-advanced content builders, and the tools allow for a variety of structured pages, boilerplate content and theming for multiple courses. To invoke the tool from any Rich Content Editor within Canvas, whether in pages, assignments, discussions, or the course syllabus, select ALT+SHIFT+D. The tools will pop out on the right side of the screen and can be further customized. We recommend reading the documentation thoroughly before using DesignPLUS, as the tools’ flexibility can make them challenging to adopt for those new to Canvas. |
